Frequently Asked Questions

One of the biggest questions that clients can have when it comes to scheduling a family photography session on 30a (especially if they are visiting and will only be here for a certain period of time) is…
“Lauren, what do we do if there ends up being expected rain during our session day, or if the weather looks like it will not end up being good?”
And that’s a GREAT question.
First, I try (as best we can) to schedule photo sessions at the very beginning of your trip (if you’ll be visiting) so that in a “worst case” scenario when it comes to weather, we can reschedule for the following day, or next few days, etc.
My focus is on working with your schedule.
And that’s why I try to schedule a potential session at the beginning of our clients trips, just so we have some wiggle room in a “weather issue” situation.
I should say, even in cases where there may not be rain, but it looks extremely cloudy or overcast, most of the time there’s no need to fret at all!
I focus on making specific adjustments in my camera and how I shoot, and you more than likely will be blown away when it comes to the final product - even when it comes to those overcast or cloudy days.
In some cases, if it looks like there may be a few “openings” in the day without rain, we can find time during the day to shoot when there’s a break in the storm. (instead of shooting at sunset time, as an example)
If the only time you were available was a rainy evening, I may also be able to come to your home (wherever you will be staying on 30a) with my lighting and take your family’s photos inside the house!
Lastly, if the weather just doesn’t turn around at all during your trip (if you’re visiting), and there’s just no way for us to do the session, I will always refund you your deposit.
Always.
No need to worry about that.
But our main focus is on helping you to have an amazing session, and doing what we need to do to make that happen! =)
Now, if you live on 30a, the most simple answer is that we’ll always focus on rescheduling (in cases where the weather just won’t hold out for us) to a better day!
Easy peasy! =)
Hope this was able to help answer the big “weather” question for you!

If you’re anything like a lot of the families that we work with, you might have some kiddos that will be joining you at a family session sometime in the future.
And usually, that entails short windows of time where your little ones are attentive to the camera.
And you know what?
That’s totally understandable.
Kids want to have fun.
And as much as we would want them to understand how much we would love them to sit still for photos, they just want to be kids.
Having two little kiddos at home myself helps me TOTALLY get it =)
So no need to worry at all friend!
That’s why my focus is on being efficient, and keeping things moving throughout your session.
Knowing that our time together (and attention spans for our little ones) are limited.
And that’s okay!
I put all of my focus on moving from pose to pose with purpose and intent.
Matter of fact, check out what an amazing (and super kind client) had to say about her family session:
“Lauren made the photo shoot so effortless with our 3 under 6 years of age, and we cannot say enough about the quality and quantity of excellent photos. She keeps things moving and has plenty of good ideas to capture the best moments. We highly recommend Lauren!”

One of the things that a lot of clients can think about before getting their family photography session is…
“How should we pose?”
And you know what?
That’s a totally normal question to ask.
I mean sure, besides the classic family photo of everyone standing up straight and looking at the camera, the next thought is…
What do we do next?
Should we sit in the sand and pose a certain way?
Should we do a shot where we are all walking on the beach together?
Should I throw my kid up in the air and watch their face light up with a huge smile?
Should I look at my spouse for a photo instead of directly at the camera?
And on and on it can go, right?
But here’s how I always answer that question for my clients. (the “how should we pose” question)
To keep it super simple…
I got you covered.
A huge part of my focus during your session is thinking about (and helping you and your family) pose in ways that flattery everyone.
I have a bit of a “shot list” running through my head of all the different ways I can pose you and your family.
And on top of that, even before your session starts (if you decide to work with us), you’ll have a “pre-session questionnaire” that you’ll fill out that will give you the option to even upload a few photos that you’d like to replicate for your own session (you can call that “photo inspiration”)
It could be photos that you’ve seen on social media, or pinterest, etc that you just really love and want to try to replicate for your family.
So I’ll use your questionnaire to make sure to nail specific poses that you and your family want, and I’ll also personally guide you and your family along your session so that you don’t have to worry at all about how to pose, what to do, etc.
I got you covered.
My focus is on making your family session totally seamless and stress free.
I just want you and your family to show up to your session feeling your best and knowing that I’ll take care of the rest.

A question that clients will have from time to time is..
“Lauren, after our session is complete, how long does it usually take to get our finished photos back?”
Meaning…
“AHHHHHH! We’re so excited to see the photos. When will we be able to see them?!!!!”
And you know what?
I’m TOTALLY the same when it comes to photos.
You’re already picturing where one of the photos is going to hang on your wall.
You’re thinking about the post you might make on social media.
You’re thinking of your family members' responses when they see the photos.
You just can’t wait.
And I love that.
And once your session is completed, I immediately work on uploading them into our system.
Once uploaded, they get sent off to our amazing editor.
She first gets to work on “culling” the photos. (there could be thousands to work through).
Culling simply means looking for the best photos in the entire batch.
Removing photos where someone isn’t looking at the camera.
Removing photos where someone's eyes are closed.
Etc.
Once she is finished with that, she then moves into the official editing process.
From start to finish, the total turnaround time for getting your completed gallery sent to you is 3-5 days after your session day.
We try to work as fast as we can, because we know just how excited you are to see them.
And we’re also so excited when we finally get to hit the “send” button to let you know that your gallery is in your inbox waiting for you.
Seriously one of the best feelings for us!
So, to make a long story short…
Our photo turnaround time is 3-5 days after your session day.
Hope that helped to answer that question, and something you may have thought of yourself! =)

Another question that I’ll commonly get when it comes to clients booking a family photography session with us is…
“How long of a session should we book?”
And that’s honestly a great question!
The truth is, there are quite a few variables involved.
For instance:
- The amount of people that will be at your session with you.
- The amount of adults VS the amount of children.
- One family VS multiple families.
- Your goal for your session.
Etc.
We have a package that is as short as 15 minutes.
And we have a package that is 60 minutes long.
And a few in between.
Once I understand what you are looking for when it comes to a family session (the amount of people, the amount of adults/children, the amount of families, your goal for your session, the dates you are interested in, etc) I’ll then let you know which package will be best for your family!
In some cases, you might think you’ll need a 60 minute session for your family, but based on your specific needs, I may actually be able to provide what you are looking for with our 45 minute session instead. (as an example)
In other cases, you might think you’ll only need 15 minutes, but based on your specific needs, I may actually need to use our 30 minute session instead. (again, as an example)
Again, it’s very much a family by family scenario and finding what works best for your needs!
But either way, I’m here to help! =)

Sometimes when the beaches get really full and busy here on 30a, clients can sometimes wonder (and even ask)...
“Lauren, what do you do if we are doing a family session and there are people in the background when you’re taking photos of us?”
And you know what?
That’s an awesome question.
To keep it simple.
We edit them out! ;)
Seriously.
For the most part, we expect a lot of the beaches on 30a to be pretty busy (I mean, it is a pretty amazing place! so I totally get it).
So we just go throughout your session having a great time and capturing special moments.
And then when I’m done, our team gets to editing, and we simply remove anyone that showed up in the background of your photos.
Easy peasy! =)

A question that we get a lot is…
“Lauren, we’ll be visiting 30a on [specific date] and we’ll be staying at [specific location] and we’re looking to get some updated family photos. We’ll also have private beach access. Are you able to travel to us to take our photos?”
The short answer: for the most part, yes!
Our goal is to make getting family photos as easy and seamless as possible for you.
And that can include traveling out to take photos of you and your family, right where you’re staying.
It’s just a quick and simple conversation to see if we can make it happen =)
