Our Story
Hey friend!
First off, I just wanted to personally thank you for deciding to check out our website today! =)
It really means a TON.
Seriously.
Also, I wanted to drop in here real quick and give you a brief background of who I am, and why I started “Families On 30a”.
If you’re like a lot of people (me included), when you’re “shopping around” for a specific product or service, and you’re getting close on deciding who you want to work with (or which product you are thinking of buying) you can then sometimes want to go one step further and ask…
“Who actually runs this business?”
“What are they like?”
“Why did they start the business?”
“Would I like working with them?”
“Is this a brand that I can get behind?”
“Could I see myself referring friends and family to them?”
And so on.
Right?
Of course not in every single case, but when it comes to certain purchases, you might be just like me when it comes to this stuff.
Wanting to make sure you work with the “right person”.
And I totally get that.
Especially when it comes to something like family photography.
Where you are really looking to capture a special moment that you can cherish for a lifetime.
So, that’s exactly what I want to try to do.
To try and put a “face to the name” so to speak.
And hopefully to allow you to learn a bit more about me, in case it helps you decide if you’d like to work together (or not, and that’s okay too!)
So….
Let’s get started!
My name is Lauren.
I’m married to my best friend Colin.
We have two amazing kiddos (at the time of this writing).
A little boy who is going to turn 3 years old soon.
And a little girl who is 8 months old.
And WOW does time go quick.
As someone once said (and as someone once reminded us), “the days are long, but the years are short”.
And that absolutely feels true.
We moved to the Santa Rosa Beach area in early 2026 (after spending a year in Oklahoma where my husband was helping out a ministry for a short period of time), and previous to that, having lived in Texas for 9 years.
And can I just say, what an AMAZING place to live. (and visit).
Right?!
Beaches. Family. Great People. Great weather.
Hard not to enjoy.
We’ve always wanted to live near the beach, and felt that it really was the perfect time for us to make the move.
And here we are!
So, when it comes to photography, I first picked up a camera back in my high school days.
I started by first just taking photos of my friends, and then eventually taking photos of their families.
I set up a little website (that my mom had helped me with at the time), and before long, things got busy.
Friends started referring other friends.
Families started referring other families.
It was a great “foray” into business and entrepreneurship.
Fast forward a handful of years, and I’m off to college where I meet my (now) husband.
And there’s a whole long story behind that meeting (one of those “God wink” moments) that I’d be happy to share with you if you’re curious!
But I’ll save that for another time, lol!
We get married and before long, we both get the "entrepreneurial bug”.
My husband got into real estate, and I started using my degree as a nurse.
But we kept coming back to wanting to operate a business together.
It was just the whole “what should we do?” question that kept coming up.
And after a lot of prayer, it all came together one day for us.
Photography.
It sounded a bit silly at the time, since it was something I did back in high school, but it was actually the perfect business for us.
My husband had been learning (and implementing) a lot in regards to marketing, systems, and operations, and we really felt that something special could happen if we combined my love for photography and his love for the business side of things.
And sure enough, within a few short years, we had found ourselves having worked with over 1,500 amazing clients in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. (with our headshot and branding photography business - meaning we did photography for business owners & professionals)
It was such an amazing time, and we really grew together in business and in our marriage during that time.
Before we knew it, our first kiddo came into the world.
And we decided to dial that business back so we can put all of our focus on him.
We had another photographer helping us with our sessions, so we were grateful that we were able to spend time with our newborn at the time.
My husband continued to operate in business through other ventures, and we continued to put photography on the back burner for a few years.
Eventually we moved and made our way here to Florida, and before long the thought came up.
“What if we relaunched a photography business here, but this time specifically serving families?”
We have always loved and cherished our family portraits that have hung on the different walls of the different places we’ve lived, and after having had children of our own, we really felt the desire to help serve other families here on 30a.
So, before long - we launched our website.
Turned on some advertising. (thanks Colin!)
Worked with some amazing families.
And are having an absolute blast.
And that is our focus.
On serving families that are living on, or visiting 30a with photos that they can cherish for a lifetime.
And we would absolutely love the opportunity to serve you and your family as well!
If you’re interested in chatting about a potential session, whether that is now or sometime in the future, feel free to fill out the quick inquire form here.
And thanks for taking the time to read all of this.
Hopefully you were able to learn a little bit about us!
Looking forward to (hopefully) chatting soon!
God bless,
-Lauren
